Mike Tanzos
Brass Caption Head, Cadets2

The 2018 season will be Mike's fourth season on staff with Cadets2 . He spent the last three years (2015-2017) teaching the C2 Trumpet section. Mike's drum corps career began in 2009 with The Reading Buccaneers. After marching with The Buccaneers, he went on to march The Cadets in 2010-2011. After aging-out with the 2011 DCI World Champion corps, Mike returned to DCA in 2012 to serve as horn sergeant in the inaugural season of Cadets2 . Prior to returning to C2 to teach the trumpets in 2015, Mike was a brass instructor for the Bushwackers Drum and Bugle Corps in 2013 and 2014.

After graduating from Nazareth High School, Mike went on to earn his Music Education degree at Kutztown University, studying under great mentors such as Dr. Kevin Kjos and Dr. Willis Rapp. While at Kutztown, he was in many performing ensembles including the University Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and Kutztown's Jazz Ensemble 1, which records a nationally distributed jazz album every year.

Mike is music teacher in the Allentown School District, where he currently is the Band Director at South Mountain Middle School. He is currently working towards his Master’s Degree in Music Education from The University of the Arts, in Philadelphia.

Mike has also taught various High School and Middle School ensembles, including the Whitehall Marching Band and Parkland High School Indoor Drumline. He is also a marching band adjudicator for the Tournament of Bands Circuit.
