Scott Whitford

Scott Whitford is thrilled to join the incredible team of educators at The Cadets. Hailing from Chicago, Illinois. He works throughout the year as a music instructor and touring musician. Since 2014, Scott has had the privilege of serving as Brass Caption Manager for the seven-time Drum Corps Japan Division 1 Champion Yokohama Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps. He is also a staff member for Marian Catholic High School Bands in Chicago Heights, Illinois. Scott is a graduate of Ball State University where he studied trumpet performance under the guidance of Larry McWilliams. As a student at Ball State, he also had the immense privilege of studying "Leadership in the Arts" with Dr. Tim Lautzenhieser. In addition, Scott received his Instrumental Music Education Certification from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Scott has served as an instructor, clinician, adjudicator and consultant to jazz bands, concert bands, as well as marching bands and drum and bugle corps across the United States and Asia. Over the years, he has had the privilege of being an instructor for groups such as the Santa Clara Vanguard, Boston Crusaders and others. Scott has also had the pleasure of teaching dozens of marching bands throughout the Midwest including the Carmel Marching Greyhounds, Avon Marching Black and Gold, Lawrence Central SPIRIT of Central, and the five-time BOA Grand National 1A Champion Western High School Marching Panthers just to name a few. From 2013 to 2014, Scott was the Associate Director of Bands at Kokomo High School in Kokomo, Indiana.

When he isn't teaching, Scott is touring as a musician with various national acts, Broadway productions, and travels the world as a trumpet player and musical director aboard Royal Caribbean and Princess Cruise Lines. He is lead trumpet and featured soloist with "In The Mood Live: A 1940s Big Band Revue," national and international tours and has appeared with numerous groups including the Heartland Big Band from Indianapolis, Global Jazz Orchestra in Osaka, Japan, Contemporary Jazz Orchestra in San Francisco, The Rat Pack: Reunited, and many others. Scott is very excited to join The Cadets family and is looking forward to serving such an innovative and distinguished organization.
