Paula Monique

 Born and raised in South Florida, Paula has been actively involved in the drum corps community since 2002 when she joined The Cadets. Paula marched lead mellophone with the corps from 2002-2006 and held the positions of section leader ('04,'05) and horn sergeant ('06). She was also the recipient of multiple Distinguished Service awards as well as the coveted Cadet of the Year award in her time with the corps. Shortly after aging out, Paula spent time in Japan, marching trumpet in the Aimachi Marching Band. 

Paula's DCI instructional experience includes visual staff for the Teal Sound (’07) and The Cadets (’09) as well as Brass staff for the Boston Crusaders (’09 10, '11, ’13) Bluecoats (’15) Carolina Crown (’15,'16,'17) and Blue Knights (’18). Paula's WGI winds instructional experience includes Music Caption Head for Nova HS Winds ('16), Stryke Wynds ('15-'16) and FIU Indoor Winds ('17)

Paula has enjoyed many years as a touring musician and performer, traveling throughout North America, Japan, South Korea, and Europe. She was a cast member in the Tony and Emmy award-winning show “Blast!” from 2007-2012, where she played multiple brass instruments, percussion, and most importantly, didgeridoo. 

Paula was also a cast member of “Brass Angels” an all-female stage show featuring brass, percussion, and dancers, which toured Japan in 2008. She has toured nationally as a pit musician in Fiddler on the Roof and spent many years as a freelance trumpet player.

Over the years, Paula has worked with numerous middle and high school concert, jazz, and marching band programs, both in and out of Florida. 

Most recently, she spent the past two years as the Assistant Director of Bands at North Broward Preparatory School in Coconut Creek, FL before transitioning to her current career in event marketing. 

Outside of work, Paula stays busy by teaching marching band, private lessons, and adjudicating band competitions around the state of Florida.Paula is incredibly excited to come home to The Cadets and work with this fantastic team!
