The team at USBands is excited to announce a twist on our New England States Championships in 2017. This year, A Class and Open Class will be held at two different sites: historically they have been hosted together at one event. This change comes as a result of years of great growth in New England. In just three years, the USBands New England States Championship has grown from 40 bands to 52, creating the need for multiple sites of competition. The two stadiums are separated by only four miles, about a 10-minute drive.
"New England States has continually grown over the past few years and we are excited to offer an additional venue to the New England Championship weekend," said Director of USBands, Steve Petzinger. "Veterans Memorial Stadium has been the home of New England States since 2014 and we are happy to return to such a well-loved site. In addition to Veterans Memorial Stadium, we are looking forward to working with Central Connecticut State University in 2017. This opportunity will allow more groups from New England to attend the State Championships while continuing to create memorable experiences."
The USBands New England States Open Class Championships will be held Saturday, October 28 at Arute Field at Central Connecticut State University. Located in New Britain, CT, this will be the first time they've hosted an event with USBands. The 5,500 seat stadium features turf that was replaced in 2014.
The USBands New England States A Class Championships will also be held on Saturday, October 28, returning to Veterans Memorial Stadium in New Britain, CT. Veterans Memorial Stadium has hosted New England States since 2014 and will also be the site of the 2017 USBands New England Regional Championship on November 4.
