Monday, April 10 was the cap to the 2017 Concert Series with an event at the Kimmel Center in the heart of downtown Philadelphia. The event featured 18 groups, ranging from choirs to wind symphonies.
"What an absolutely amazing experience for middle and high school students, to say they were able to perform on the stage at one of America's premier concert venues!" said Director of USBands, Steve Petzinger
Each group had the opportunity to perform on the world famous stage at the Kimmel Center in Verizon Hall. The spacious hall was the perfect venue for the young performing musicians, with plenty of space for parents, families and other ensembles to enjoy the music. After their performance, each group headed upstairs for a clinic with a world class educator. Students and directors had the opportunity to work with the educators on the pieces they'd just performed for chance to further improve their technical and musical abilities. After their clinic was done, students packed up their instruments and could head into the hall to listen to other performances.
In 2018 the USBands Concert Series will not only return to the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, they'll also head to three other exciting locations. Students will have the opportunity to perform at Symphony Hall in Boston, MA; the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore, MD; and the Chicago Symphony Center in Chicago, IL.
