USBands Introduces Yamaha Cup: Philadelphia

USBands is excited to announce a brand new show, Yamaha Cup: Philadelphia, to be held on October 7, 2017! Hosted at Franklin Field at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pa, students from 45 different bands will have the opportunity to perform in one of America's most historic stadiums. In fact, Thursday, April 20, 2017 is the 122 Anniversary of its opening!

"What an amazing opportunity to host an event at such a prestigious stadium," said USBands Director, Steve Petzinger. "At 122 years old, Franklin Field has been home to professional sports, collegiate sports, DCI shows and now a USBands event. I'm very much looking forward to a tremendous show!"

Originally built for a mere $100,000 Franklin Field officially opened for competition on April 20, 1985. It was the site for the 1975 and 1976 DCI World Championships where the Madison Scouts and Blue Devils won, respectively. The stadium was also the home of the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles from 1958-1970 and is the infamous site of Eagles fans booing Santa Claus in 1968. Currently, Franklin field is the home of the Penn Quakers, Division 1 FCS.
