As the summer ends and the fall season begins, some familiar faces at YEA! are taking on new roles with the organization. With two former Board of Directors members, as well as an alumni and long time partner with The Cadets joining the office staff and the day to day operations, YEA is starting a new phase. Read on to check out the new lineup in the Performing Ensembles, Sales and Marketing Departments!
Director of Performing Ensembles
Dave Marden’s interest in the marching arts began while his daughter was in the middle school and high school bands in Verona, NJ. Dave became a member of the boards of the music parents’ associations in both of those schools, as well as a “pit dad”. Upon his daughter’s “age out” of high school, Dave wanted to continue as a volunteer for organizations involved in music education and joined the event staff of USBands in 2011. Upon successfully completing a fall and an indoor season for USBands, Dave extended his volunteer service into the summer months, joining a new Drum Corps, Cadets2, in 2012, and quickly taking on a role coordinating all of the volunteer activities for the Corps. A year-round Yea volunteer, Dave has remained in his role at Cadets2 and as a Cadets volunteer for the last six years and has started his seventh year at USBands as an event staff member and regional coordinator. Dave has also managed a summer camp for young brass and percussion students for the last 11 years through his involvement with Gramercy Brass Orchestra of NY.
Dave has a degree in management science and has had a 39+ year career in corporate governance and project management, including positions at a Fortune 100 financial firm and a software company. When the opportunity arose to contribute to the success of YEA from the inside, Dave jumped at the chance to join the staff as the new Director of Performing Ensembles. “I believe that my volunteer service for the Corps over the last several years has provided me with unique insight into what the members, parents, staff and volunteers expect from their involvement in the activity. Managing the operations of two Drum Corps is definitely challenging but I look forward to doing what I can to make the experience one to remember and one worth continuing”, said Dave.
Director of Organizational Sales
Previous to YEA! he was employed with Valspar, now Sherwin Williams, where he held several positions in Customer Relations, Business Development and finally as a Senior Sales Manager for the NYC and NJ region. His involvement with YEA! includes being a donor, volunteer and former YEA! Board of Directors member. He stepped in late in the 2017 season to assist in the administration of the Cadets2 Drum Corps at the request of Executive Director George Hopkins.
Now at YEA! full-time as the Director of Organizational Sales he very excited about what we as a team are doing to grow the organization and to deliver on our mission statement “Supporting the development of young people into magnificent human beings through participation in the arts”.

Chris marched Cadets in 1985 and it seems like only yesterday (maybe because his calves are still sore).
