MetLife Stadium played host to the first audition camp weekend of the 2018 season for The Cadets. Taking place in a spectacular venue, students from across the country had the opportunity to audition for a spot in the 84th edition of the corps. Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon heard the strains of the brass playing 'Almighty Father' by Leonard Bernstein from our 2017 show 'The Faithful, The Fallen, The Forgiven.' 'Academic Festival Overature' by Johannes Brahams was also included in the work done by the brass.
The visual block on Sunday afternoon took place on the field of MetLife Stadium, home of the Jets and the Giants. The enormous professional football stadium proved to be a truly spectacular place to hold auditions with plenty of space for the brass, battery and front ensemble. The color guard spent Saturday at an indoor turf facility in anticipation of cold weather and wind.
"We had a great turnout," said Dave Marden, Director of Performing Ensembles. "We're glad we were able to bring our auditions to such an incredible facility. We truly wanted to make this a larger-than-life audition experience and we feel we did just that."
The next Cadets audition camp is November 18-19 in Houston, Texas at Cypress Ridge High School. The following weekend, November 25-26, Cadets auditions return to the East Coast with a camp at Delran High School in Delran, New Jersey. It's not too late to audition for either camp, or submit a video audition. Click the button below for more information about the remaining audition camps for 2018.
