Darcie Aungst - Program Coordinator
Darcie Aungst joins the 2019 Cadets as the first female Artistic Director in the corps history! For the past 25 years, Darcie has been the Show Designer, Show Coordinator, Choreographer, and Costume & Set Designer for the five time Scholastic World Champion Dartmouth High School Indoor Percussion. Through her design, leadership, and teamwork the group has medaled an amazing 17 times and has always ranked in the top five in the World Class Division. Darcie toured for 11 years with the Marauders Drum and Bugle Corps as a member, instructor, choreographer, and designer. She has choreographed several musicals on both the West and East Coasts. Her educational background includes Health Education, Dance, and Educational Leadership; she also studied classical piano for 11 years in her home state of Washington. During her day job, Darcie is the Principal of two separate urban elementary schools in New Bedford, Massachusetts where she lives with her son Noah who marches in the Dartmouth High School Percussion Ensemble. Her eldest son, Alan, marched with the Spartans, Carolina Crown, for three years with the Blue Devils, and four years with RCC Indoor Percussion. She is very excited to work with Alan this year at The Cadets. Darcie is thrilled to be part of the next new and groundbreaking chapter in the history book of The Cadets!
Adam Sage - Color Guard Designer and Visual Coordinator
Adam Sage is an active choreographer, designer, and adjudicator in the pageantry arts. Adam has worked with numerous programs in the southeast including Tarpon Springs High School, East Lake High School, Seminole High School (1993 WGI A class Bronze medalists), Clearwater High School, Kell High School and Pope High School in Marietta, Georgia. Pope High School was the 2000 WGI Open class Silver medalists and the 2002 WGI World class Bronze medalists. Kell High School was the 2005 WGI A class Silver medalist. In addition, Adam also designed for Spanish River High School Winter Guard in Boca Raton, Florida (2009 Winter Guard International Scholastic A Silver medalists). Adam’s drum corps experience includes being a performing member of the Suncoast Sound from 1988 to 1989, and The Cadets of Bergen County from 1990 to 1991. He was the caption head for the Magic of Orlando from 1992 to 1993; caption head for the Crossmen from 1994 to 1995. Adam then spent 1996 through 2002 working with the Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps. Sage was also the caption head and designer for the Santa Clara Vanguard in 2003 and 2004. 2005 through 2008, he spent with the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps as their caption head and designer. 2009-2011, he was the caption supervisor and designer with the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps. Adam was the color guard caption head and designer for the Madison Scouts from 2012-2014. Adam is also actively involved with Winter Guard International (WGI). He was the director of The Company Colour Guard from Tampa Bay, Florida from 1995 to 1999. The Company was a two time WGI World Champion in the A (1995) class and Open (1996) class. He was also the director of the Phantom Regiment Winter Guard in 2007 and 2008 and CrownGUARD in 2009 and 2010. Sage was also a member of the Emerald Marquis Winter Guard from 1990 to 1991.
Most recently, Adam Sage was the director and designer for the Kennesaw Mountain High School Color Guard in Kennesaw, Georgia 2003-present (2004 Winter Guard International Scholastic A World Champions, 2005 Winter Guard International Scholastic Open World Champions, 2006 Winter Guard International Scholastic World Class finalists, and the 2013 Winter Guard International Scholastic Open Bronze Medalists); and designer for the 2015 Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps.
Currently, Yokohama Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps in Yokohama, Japan, and artistic director and color guard co-director at Park Vista High School (FL). Park Vista was recently named the 2018 Winter Guard International Scholastic Open Champions. He is also a consultant and choreographer for the Brazilian Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Adam Sage was a choreographer and program consultant for Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps in 2017 and 2018. Adam is an adjudicator for Bands Of America and Winter Guard International. When he is not teaching color guard, Adam is a second and third grade teacher in Parkland, Florida where he resides.
Drew Shanefield - Brass Arranger/Music Coordinator
Drew Shanefield has spent his career in education as an instrumental music teacher in the Haverford Township School District in Pennsylvania. He is a former member of the music faculty at Swarthmore College.
Drew's drum corps experience began as a member of The Cadets from 1988-1991. He served as an instructor and was co-brass caption head for The Cadets in 2005, brass caption head for Carolina Crown in 1997, and brass caption head for the Cavaliers from 1998-2000. Read more...
Bobby Jones - Drill Designer
Bobby Jones is a Visual Designer and Program Consultant for a multitude of high school and university marching bands, drum corps, winterguards, and indoor percussion ensembles throughout the country. In the past, Bobby has been the Visual Designer and Caption Head for the 2006 Crossmen Drum & Bugle Corps (Allentown, PA) and the 2007 Hawthorne Caballeros Drum & Bugle Corps (Hawthorne, NJ). Tom Aungst - Battery Arranger/Percussion Coordinator
Tom Aungst is the Director of Percussion at Dartmouth Public Schools in Dartmouth, Massachusetts. His job includes teaching percussion students at all levels of the program, from the beginners starting in 5th grade, to the the middle and high school students. Mr. Aungst has been in the Dartmouth school system for the past 24 years. Under Tom's direction, Dartmouth has participated in the WGI indoor percussion activity since 1998, capturing five World Class Percussion Championships (1998, 1999, 2008, 2009, 2014) and has consistently placed in the top three. Omar Carmenates - Front Ensemble Arranger
Omar Carmenates is currently the Associate Professor of Percussion at Furman University in Greenville, SC where he oversees all aspects of the percussion program including classical, jazz, and world percussion studies. He holds a Doctor of Music degree from Florida State University, a Master of Music Degree in Percussion Performance from the University of North Texas, and a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Central Florida. Under his direction, the Furman University Percussion Ensemble has become known for its performances and recordings of ecoacoustic music, helping promote Furman’s standing as one of the nations academic leaders in sustainability. Matt Filosa - Sound Designer
Matt Filosa currently resides in Fort Worth, Texas, where he serves as the Percussion Director for Melissa High School and Middle School. Matt is the co-owner of the marching arts design company Synced Up Designs, where he writes, designs for, and teaches marching bands and indoor percussion groups all over the country. Read more...
