November 2, 2018
I have completed my first official week as Executive Director of Youth Education in the Arts. It is truly an honor and a privilege to serve this organization in this capacity. Thank you for the very warm welcome I have received from the YEA!, Drum Corps International, and Drum Corps Associates communities!
I invite you to connect with me and the staff and become a part of the greater YEA! community through one or more of YEA!’s programs – The Cadets DCI Drum and Bugle Corps, Cadets2 DCA Drum and Bugle Corps, USBands Scholastic Program, and Xcape Dance Studio.
As one of my first actions I have engaged in a Listening Tour, which began at The Cadets Celebration of Dave Shaw in October, progressed this week with the YEA! Staff, and will be continuing through November with various stakeholders. I am looking forward to meeting band directors, adjudicators, event staff, volunteers, parents, and of course students at the USBands A Class National Championships in Allentown this weekend and the Open Class National Championships in East Rutherford next weekend as we celebrate the finale of this 30th Anniversary year for USBands. I will also be attending The Cadets and Cadets2 combined audition camp November 16-18 at Salem High School in Salem, NJ to meet corps veterans, future members, staff, volunteers, and parents. And I will visit some upcoming dance classes being held by Xcape to meet these talented students and supportive parents.
Stay tuned for some exciting upcoming announcements regarding The Cadets Christmas Party on December 1 in New Jersey, the 85th Anniversary of The Cadets, and some special ways we will celebrate 50 years of women in The Cadets in 2019. I hope you will join us.
My literal and figurative door is open to you. I look forward to connecting as we together support the development of young people into magnificent human beings through participation in the performing arts.
