Did you know that kids who participate in performing arts have higher grades in school than kids who don't? Those same kids have fewer problems with drugs and alcohol and are more likely to go on to college and successful careers.
"We know from experience, that youth, particularly high-risk youth, who have access to the arts increase their potential to succeed academically," said David Diaz, Director of Donor, Alumni & Corporate Relations. "If kids engage in self-expression, it provides a different form of stimulation to the brain than traditional academic curricula. By providing with youth the tools and attention to succeed, we see how the gift of music can change lives."
Youth Education in the Arts is a non-profit youth organization that sponsors two drum corps; a free youth dance studio called Xcape; the Designated Hitters, the official drumline of the Lehigh Valley Triple-A baseball team, the IronPigs; as well as USBands, which gives music students the opportunity to compete in some of the best stadiums and concert halls in the country.
