20181020-DSC_1042.jpgUSBands is proud to announce its partnership with Calvert Hall College High School in Baltimore as the site for the 2019 Maryland State Championships on Saturday, October 26.

The decision to return to a high-quality high school location came after several weeks of evaluating locations and researching how to best address the needs of the music programs in Maryland. As of May 6, over 20 bands have registered for the 2019 Maryland States Championship and events in Maryland this fall.

With the return to a high school venue, USBands is able to remain consistent with its renewed commitment to high-quality performance opportunities while remaining affordable for the participating schools.

The Adjudication assignments for the Maryland State Championships, as well as the complete Maryland schedule of events,  have been recently completed, while a few modifications are in the process of being made to the USBands adjudication system for 2019 by the Advisory Council comprised of Directors and Adjudicators.

For Maryland high school bands who still want to perform in large venues, USBands offers performance slots at Navy & Marine Corps Stadium in Annapolis, J. Birney Crum Stadium in Allentown and MetLife Stadium in E. Rutherford, NJ.

The team at USBands has developed an easy to use calculator to allow you to see what Membership Level is best for your program in 2019. Simply select your State, Group and Class Size, along with the Membership Level and the events you're planning to attend and you can compare whether Value, Basic or Prime is best for you.

Three levels of Membership are now available and provide cost-effective and affordable educational opportunities for school music programs of all sizes and budgets.

USBands Value Membership is $375 and is for the up and coming band that participates in a few local events while building their program. This affordable alternative allows bands to select from the full array of 80 local competitions in the New England and Mid-Atlantic regions.

USBands Basic Membership is $450 and has been created to serve the marching band that competes annually in several local contests and caps off their season with a State or National Championship performance with added incentives making your membership more valuable to your program and your students.

IMG_5143.jpgIt is with a sense of sorrow and joy that YEA! announces the departure of Jon Swengler from the organization as of Friday, April 12.

“Jon has been a fixture over the past eight years at YEA! and has been a stabilizing force for the organization over the last several months in his leadership role with USBands,” said Vicki Ferrence Ray, Executive Director of YEA!

“While we are sorry he will no longer be a formal member of the YEA! team, we are very excited for him and his family on his new professional adventure serving post-secondary education students as they embark on their future,” added Ferrence Ray.

Ben Regalado, Member of the YEA! Board of Directors and USBands Advisory Council said, “Jon is a wealth of knowledge and we are fortunate he has agreed to continue to share with us and advise us during the transition. We remain committed to the principles Jon put in place to serve to the best of our ability the educators, adjudicators, event staff and students in all facets of USBands.”

Announcements will be made shortly on additions to the USBands team for the 2019 season including Band Relations and leadership positions.
