deniseYouth Education in the Arts is excited to welcome Denise Bonfiglio as our Staff Coordinator! She will work to establish a best practice People Management function for YEA! that includes recruiting, training, supporting and recognizing the people that work and volunteer for all YEA! programs. This includes assessing the current environment, creating a plan and operating model, and coaching YEA! personnel from Full-time Staff, Part-time/event Contractors, Instructional Staff and Volunteers.

She also serves as The Cadets Staff Coordinator, managing instructional staff coverage for winter rehearsals and summer tour, coordinating instructional staff travel, facilitating creation and execution of the Cadets production schedule and serving as a consultant to the design team.

"The Cadets are very excited to have Denise on our team," said Cadets Director Scott Litzenberg. "Her experience and passion for The Cadets has been very evident as we have begun to build the 2019 corps. To get such an outstanding person on our team is a huge part of us moving forward into the future. Welcome home, Denise!"

letterpage1The legacy of The Cadets is one of overcoming challenges, and The 2018 Cadets contributed a new chapter to that history of perseverance and rising above and beyond obstacles. They embodied a true commitment to excellence and a dedication to one another that never wavered.

It is no secret that since last year’s holiday season adversity has befallen our beloved organization.  Together, we faced situations that would have rendered lesser organizations unable to function, but The Cadets we know would not settle for that.

The members, staff, alumni, and volunteers moved forward confidently, and proved they could overcome all that was thrown at them and be stronger for what they experienced together. They doubled-down on the grit and determination that is this corps’ legacy to achieve the goals they set for themselves and never, ever gave up or gave in.

Youth Education in the Arts (YEA!) Board of Directors announces broad changes to its operating structure to stabilize the organization and position it for future growth.

“YEA! has recently completed an exhaustive financial audit and independent investigation of the operational elements of YEA! The results of this work have led the Board of Directors and senior management to make strategic changes and improvements to position YEA! for our next decade of growth and innovation,” said Vicki Ferrence Ray, Executive Director of YEA!

Part of these proactive changes will be a discontinuation of the Cadets2 program and a reduction by one-third of the YEA! staff in the Allentown, PA office. Additionally, there is an aggressive plan for reducing expenses, increasing efficiencies through technology and streamlined processes, and selling under -utilized assets. These actions create a more lean and agile organization that remains committed to providing a safe environment for all participants.

Operations for the 10-time World Champion Cadets drum and bugle corps, 30 year-old USBands scholastic service program, and the Xcape Dance Company remain unchanged.

IMG 0661The 2019 Cadets Tour was recently announced with the corps making a 12,000 mile tour hitting all of the most popular events in San Antonio, Murfreesboro, Atlanta, Allentown and Indianapolis. Highlights to this year's tour for The Cadets include return appearances in the Midwest states including Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa before heading off to the Rocky Mountains for performances in Casper, WY and Denver, CO after several years of absences.

The Cadets will once again host four home shows in Allentown, PA (6/28), Northern NJ (7/2), Annapolis, MD (7/30) and Chester, PA (7/31). Tickets will be available soon for these four shows and for the Cadets block at DCI Southwestern Championships in San Antonio, DCI Southeastern Championships in Atlanta, DCI Eastern Classic in Allentown and the DCI World Championships in Indianapolis.
