The 2016 DCA World Champion Cadets2 will be taking to the road this summer for a first-of-its-kind, mid-season summer tour of the Mid-Atlantic participating in home shows in Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and at the DCI Eastern Classic in the corps' hometown of Allentown, PA.
George Hopkins, CEO of Youth Education in the Arts, the parent organization of Cadets2 said in announcing the mini-tour, "We are very lucky to have a schedule of events locally and throughout the Mid-Atlantic region to provide excellent, world class venues for the members of Cadets2 to perform in front of appreciative crowds. the way the early August schedule lines up for this season, we are able to provide the members an experience unlike any other while performing in front of some of the largest audiences they will see all year."
Hopkins continues, "This mini-tour is one of the real differences between Cadets2 and the other corps in DCI and DCA. We are able to give members the experience of what it's like to be on tour and perform one night after another just like DCI, while still having the advantage of keeping their work or school schedule with only minor changes. It really is the 'best of both worlds' in every way possible."
The tour will begin with Cadets2 appearing in Annapolis, MD on Tuesday, August 1 for Drum Corps: An American Tradition. The DCI event is staged at the Navy & Marine Corps Stadium featuring The Cadets, Blue Devils, Madison Scouts, Jersey Surf and three other top DCI world class corps.
The tour moves north on Wednesday, August 2 to the New Jersey/New York metropolitan area for Drum Corps: An American Tradition NYC edition with a performance alongside The Cadets and five other top DCI world class corps, including Santa Clara Vanguard, Blue Knights, Boston Crusaders, Jersey Surf and more. The stadium for this event is pending.
On Thursday, August 3, Cadets2 will roll into Talen Energy Park in Chester for a performance at the Tour of Champions event featuring The Cadets, Bluecoats, Carolina Crown, The Cavaliers, Crossmen and Phantom Regiment.
Friday evening, August 4 will see a return of Cadets2 to the DCI Eastern Classic in Allentown with an exhibition performance at the end of the evening competition featuring the Blue Devils, Bluecoats, Phantom Regiment and eight other DCI World Class corps.
And finally, after a rehearsal day on Saturday and attendance at the DCI Eastern Classic to see The Cadets and the remaining line-up of DCI World Class corps, the members, staff and parents will host their annual Awards Banquet on Sunday, August 6.
Tickets will be available soon for all of the 2017 mini-tour dates, along with the remainder of the Drum Corps: An American Tradition events.
Membership in Cadets2 is still open to young performers between the ages of 16-25 with rehearsal camps scheduled for Dec. 17-18 and Jan. 14-15. For more information or to reserve your spot, visit jointhecadets.org.
