The Sewing/Uniform Maintenance Team is looking for a candidate to join them for the Cadets 2019 Tour. This is an excellent position for a newly aged out drum corps participant. You'll have the opportunity to experience the tasks required to keep all members dressed and “Always Looking Good”.

A successful candidate must be available to join us at Spring Training at Ada, Ohio between June 2-4, 2019 and remain with the corps for the full tour and ride home via the caravan to Allentown, PA. After returning to Allentown, the sewing intern will spend two to three days to assisting the Senior Sewing Team/Uniform Maintenance members with final laundering of uniforms and costumes, inventory and storage. The sewing intern will travel on the “Rolling Stitchers” RV, enjoying the comfort of this dedicated vehicle: your own bunk bed, refrigerator, freezer, microwave, coffee pot and toaster.

Tasks at Spring Training:

  • Assist with placing orders for shoes, gloves, undergarments, etc.
  • Sort inventory when received.
  • Distribute appropriate sizes to each performer.
  • Assist with uniform/costume fittings – ensure all section members have come in for fittings.
  • Follow up with members who have not made their way into the fitting room.

Tasks while on Tour:

  • Hang uniforms/costumes outdoors to air dry the morning after every show. 
  • Ensure that uniforms/costumes are returned to storage trailer when dry on non-show days.
  • Ensure that all uniforms/costumes are retrieved by each member before the caravan departs housing site.
  • Handle the daily sale of white practice gloves to brass musicians.
  • Receive requests for replacements of shoes, undergarments, gloves, gauntlets, etc. and ensure member receives items at before departing for the show.
  • Assist with laundry of uniforms/costumes. 
  • Assist with collection of clothing after Finals.
  • Assist with other duties as they arise.

Location and Schedule

This position is structured around the corps’ summer tour and requires travel with The Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps. Summer positions run from the months of May 13 - August 12 (start and end dates are based on schedule).

Compensation

The sewing internship is an unpaid position. The corps will provide housing, transportation, and food to those traveling with the corps (summer).
